Hi all.
I would encourage anyone that comes across any "Rare" harvested ducks/geese=
(others) to ask the hunter to save the Off fall (not to be graphic). Almos=
t all the field marks are preserved in some forms of processing (skinning),=
and other methods will still preserve some/most. Any time I've asked it wa=
s freely offered up. After all it's considered garbage from that point. You=
may even be offered the whole specimen, it has happened.=20
I know that there are facilities that would love to even have the head as a=
n addition to the collection! I know I've made contributions to collections=
in this way before.=20
This can be a powerful tool in monitoring rarities. By empowering and invol=
ving the hunter you'll receive reports and collection samples while at the =
same time your educating them on the rarer migrants in our areas.=20

Subject: [NS-RBA] FWD: Greater White-fronted Goose in Antigonish
=20=20=20=20
A Greater White-fronted Goose was shot December 6 in an Antigonish county=
corn field. I wasn't given a precise location. It apparently flew in alo=
ne. I was called today to confirm the identity of the "Greylag" before it=
was cleaned. To be exact, a juvenile of the tundra subspecies.
