Hi all
A group of 4 of us ( George Child, Robert Moser, Charlie Kendell and =
myself) were doing section 5 ( Sober I.) of the Sheet Hbr. CBC today =
Dec. 14, but our most interesting find was a rather toothy fish which =
seems to be a Gray Triggerfish. My old university reference text, =
"Fishes of the Atlantic Coast of Canada" ( Leim Scott- 1966), refers to =
7 or so references or specimens most from the early 1900's. I suspect =
this species is more common the last few years. I think Tom Kavanaugh =
showed me photos of live fish he had taken in Canso this summer. They =
were some sort of tropical fish if not triggerfish.
On the bird side we had 39 species for our section. Nothing exceptional =
although we did see 6 Harlequin (4 m. 2 fem). Most common duck was =
Long-tailed Duck at 106. I had a pair of Great Horned Owls calling in my =
yard (Plymouth, Pict.) this morning when I went out to warm the vehicle =
up before Charlie met me at 6 left when we left to drive to Sheet Hbr. =
Last bird of the day was a Barred Owl which flew across the road in the =
Liscomb Game Sanctuary.=20

cheers
Ken
