All:

After looking briefly (again) at the Ross's Goose yesterday a.m., I
went to Rainbow Haven. There were no Snow Geese from the New Year's
Day flock, but there were good numbers of Canadas in the lagoon behind
the beach.

It was amusing to watch 4 Bald Eagles - an adult, one 4(?)-yr old and
two immatures - from the the settled road just north of the beach.
They were near-hovering in the stiff wind & sequentially plunging down
to try snatching an Am. Black Duck from the water. It avoided them by
diving, adequately, 'though quite unprofessionally, just before they
reached the water'd surface. Score after about five minutes: duck 1,
eagles zero, and the eagles gave up.

HNY to all,

Ian

Ian McLaren
