Hello all=2C
=20
Thanks to Barb and Pat for reporting this instead of just intending to do s=
o=2C as often happens to me.
=20
Horned Larks certainly arrived in force in the mid-Valley area this week=2C=
after having been absent for the Kingston Xmas Bird Count. During the sn=
ow storm Sunday p.m. (Jan. 6)=2C I saw a flock of at least 100=2C with one =
Lapland Longspur=2C at the Bent farm along Commercial St. north of Middleto=
n=2C and later=2C two flocks=2C totaling at least 250 in the fields along D=
odge Rd. as noted by the Giffins. At least 100 were still there Monday p.m=
.=2C along with one Snow Bunting. As far as I could tell=2C all were of t=
he E. a. alpestris subspecies=3B although the superciliary lines and forehe=
ads seemed paler than expected=2C they were definitely yellowish.
