Yesterday, along East River in the former Bowater Mersey St. Margaret's Bay District, I found a trap of a new-to-me kind. It was located in a wooden box with two exit holes, each about 5 cm in diameter. The box was the size of a larger shoe box and it was placed on the ground. The roof of the box waas easily removeable. The steel spring trap was inside. The jaws were in the open position but there was no bait. What might be the target species? Red squirrel? Mink? Weasel? All of the above?
