After weeks of a depressing lack of birds at my feeders with many days of n=
ot seeing a single bird. Yesterday things started to improve with my first=
 common redpoll and a pine siskin amongst some American Goldfinches. Today=
 things exploded back to life. The red-bellied woodpecker made an appearan=
ce as did a downy woodpecker.  I had black-capped chickadees=2C rock pigeon=
s=2C 25 European starlings=2C 30 American goldfinches=2C and 20 common redp=
olls. 95 birds in all at the feeder with other species seen flying by such=
 as American crows=2C American black ducks=2C herring gulls and that sort o=
f thing. It was an uplifting experience to see birds again knowing that ma=
ny did not make it through the hard cold period recently. =20
