Did anyone else hear this exchange on CBC's Information Morning this
week? Don Connolly reported hearing an odd bird? sound while walking
in Point Pleasant Park on the weekend, I think, which he described as
sounding something between the quacking of a duck and a crow. A
listener phoned in the next day ( I didn't catch the name) and
suggested that perhaps he had heard Wood Frogs. A recording was
played and Don agreed that it could have been that. But surely it's
much too early. I just scanned my email backfiles and reports are
overwhelmingly from early April. The earliest report I've seen was
last year from Larry Bogan, who reported on 22 March hearing Wood
Frogs for the first time in 2012 the night before, in Cambridge. But
that was after we had that bizarre heat wave, and we're a long way
from anything like that ...

Cheers,
Patricia L. Chalmers
