*This Week's Sky at a Glance*

*Some Night Sky Sights for March 22 - 30*

*Comet PanSTARRS* is fading. It still can be seen in evening twilight, the
darker a sky you can view it in now, the better.

*Orion *is in the southwest in the evening, leaning over to slide down to
the western horizon. Orion's three-star belt is turning nearly horizontal.
It is framed by the two brightest starlike points in the sky: *Jupiter *off
to his right and *Sirius *to his left.

Look northwest right after dark for W-shaped *Cassiopeia *standing on end.
The brightest part of the W is on the bottom.

On Tuesday, March 26 the *Moon *will go into its Full Phase meaning we will
see it all night. Look for higher high tides and lower low tides.

This is the time of year when the dim *Little Dipper* juts to the right
from *Polaris *(the Little Dipper's handle-end) during evening hours. The
much brighter* Big Dipper *curls over high above it, "dumping water" into
it.

On Saturday, March 23, the *Sun *rose at 7:15 a.m. and will set at 7:35
p.m. giving 12 hours 20 minutes of daylight hours. On Saturday, March 30,
the sun will rise at 7:01 a.m. and set at 7:44 p.m. to give 12 hours 42
minutes of daylight hours (These values are for Moncton, New Brunswick).
*
*
*This Week's Planet Roundup*

*Mercury *(brightening from magnitude +0.6 to +0.2 this week) is having a
poor apparition very low in the dawn. Use binoculars to scan for it just
above the east-southeast horizon about 30 minutes before sunrise.

*Venus *and *Mars *are lost in the glare of the Sun.

*Jupiter *(magnitude -2.1) comes into view high in the west after sunset,
and then descends as night grows late. Lower left of Jupiter is orange *
Aldebaran*. They set in the west-northwest around the middle of the night.

*Saturn *(magnitude +0.3) rises in the east-southeast only about an hour
after the end of twilight now. Saturn shines highest in the south around 4
a.m.
