Hi Patrick & All, Apr 2, 2013
Any carbon offset procedures, that I have heard of, are just =
government-approved feel-good scams; a throwback to indulgences when any =
sin had a price.=20
Are there some soundly based and honestly run procedures that really =
work ? If so then what is the mechanism and how is the intended effect =
verified ?

Actually that's one of the two main reasons why I don't drive from =
Windsor to all ends of the province just to see a rare bird. The other =
is that it would eat up a lot of time from my weekend and with my luck =
I'd get there and find it has flown the coop! Travelling with a group to =
share the gas, footprint and have conversation there and back would be =
different.
When it comes to travel, I have never done one just for birding, =
although if it is to a new area, I will do birding as part of it. In =
those cases, I use carbon credits to make the trip balance out. I =
suppose I could do the same thing with car trips, but since I don't know =
of any easy way to buy time credits=85
