I have written before about "Robin Snow" and other local
names for light snowfalls which come late in the season. The snow on
the weekend reminded me to pass on this list which came from a
colleague at work. Her husband, who grew up in Hants County, says
the names of these snows are " Smelt, gaspereaux and shad, in that
order. That is the sequence of the different spawning runs up the
Shubenacadie River."
