Yesterday was the first day with no Red Polls, I greet their possible =
departure with mixed feelings as they were going through just about 2 =
litres of niger a day. We had a female Cardinal at our feeder on =
Wednesday, very briefly as has been her habit, and also the =
male=E2=80=99s for the past couple months. Later in the afternoon I =
heard them calling in the woods behind out house. The same day we had =
two Evening Grosbeaks, again briefly and they haven=E2=80=99t returned. =
We were fascinated by a pair of American Woodcocks (at an undisclosed =
location) who start vocalizing every evening shortly after sunset then =
put on a flying demonstration. They were right on cue Friday evening.
