In my experience, many of the most common pickers of wild flowers are =
children. It is helpful to the parents to be able to explain to their =
kids why this is not a good idea=E2=80=94especially where rarity is an =
issue. This is, of course, the best way to raise adults with =
=E2=80=9Cinterest in and respect for=E2=80=9D. There should be signage =
in parks, and a pamphlet also available, with a simple explanation. The =
most glorious site for CLS in metro must be Shubie park. Is there =
anything like this there? I haven=E2=80=99t seen it.=20

Dave,

I guess the key here is in the "if"...=20

"IF picking a few CLS flowers can trigger or reinforce someone's =
interest in and respect for the natural world then it is flowers well =
spent"

I doubt very much that such triggering would take place based on picking =
flowers for the dining room table vase.

Respectfully,
Randy
