was the
All:

I always enjoy David missives and share most of his views. I also
share his age and some of his experiences - I too went through an
childhood that included much time in the extensive woods of West End
Montreal and always picked posies of violets and the like (sometimes
even orchids) at the end of my rambles when I felt I had to placate
my mother for being late for supper. Those woods are now obliterated
by housing. I live down town and drive much less often now, but get
considerable pleasure in experiencing nature via the internet. The
last may in time go some way toward reducing our lust for "being there".

Best, Ian

Ian McLaren
