Hi all
Spring is finally here and so the last of the Pictou Co.Naturalist's =
presentations for the season is Tues. May 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the New =
Glasgow Library.
Our guest speaker will be Shavonne Meyer, the new NS Dept. of Natural =
Resources regional biologist for our central region.
The topic for her presentation will be "What is Happening to our Bats- =
White-nose Syndrome in North American Bats".=20
Shavonne is concerned about the spread of the fungus that is responsible =
for declining bat populations here in NS and how it will impact insects =
and plant pollination.=20
Her illustrated talk will look at the history of the disease, the =
effects on bat health and behaviour, monitoring and observations and new =
research initiatives. Come on out to meet Shavonne and take in some =
knowledge of bats.=20

Just a reminder that Sat. May 11 is the annual spring migration bird =
count. Drop me quick email or call if you can help out in Pictou Co. =
with a yard report or if you can venture further in the field.

cheers
Ken
