The regular May meeting of the Blomidon Naturalists Society will take =20=

place at 7:30 PM, Monday, May 20, in Room BAC241 of the Beveridge Arts =20=

Centre, Acadia University All are welcome!

The main presentation will be: A Whole World at Your Feet: Arctic =20
Plants by Carolyn Mallory. The talk comprises an introduction to the =20
most common Arctic plants found in Nunavut, their adaptations for =20
survival in the north, and the known traditional knowledge from Inuit =20=

elders.

Carolyn Mallory is a writer whose book Common Insects of Nunavut was =20
published in December 2011. It is a follow up to her popular Common =20
Plants of Nunavut, co-written with Susan Aiken, which was just revised =20=

and updated in a second edition. She is also hard at work on a picture =20=

book for children and a novel. Carolyn travels across the Arctic on a =20=

cruise ship in the summer where she lectures and guides people on =20
tundra walks. Carolyn and her husband Mark have recently made the move =20=
