For NSMC on Sat eve: A count of 35 Chimney Swifts was recorded entering the Robie Tufts Nature Centre chimney in Wolfville by Jim Wolford and myself . The first swift arrived at 8:10pm and was joined within mins by 2 more but it was almost ½ hr before the rest arrived. A quick circle or two of this expanded group and down into the chimney they dropped by 8:40 pm. It was overcast, with light sprinkles of rain drops and a temp ~ 10oC. Jean Timpa told me she had seen at least 7 swifts circling over her house during the day, possibly some from the previous night’s roost?.
