Ray Staszko and I met Fulton Lavender and Richard Hatch on a trail and =
exchanged sightings and gossip when Fulton and Richard announced, =
somewhat casually, that there are Pine Warblers on territory nearby. =
Fulton confirmed that there was a successful nesting last year. He =
spotted an adult and a fledgling in the area. This year there are =
several Pine Warblers nearby so we could be looking at a nesting colony =
of this species establishing itself in the tall pines here. Caution has =
to be exercised when using audio recordings or pishing especially in the =
month of June when unintended consequences of such activity may lead to =
nesting failure.

Knowledge of this location is known by several birders and I hope that =
they will have equal respect for the nesting success of this species and =
not release the location prematurely, at least not until the young have =
fledged. Release of the location should be left to the discretion of the =
Nova Scotia Bird Society only.

I do have three record photos to offer on my website: =
http://www.hanstoom.com/Journal/Page37.html Scroll down the page to find =
the Pine Warbler photos. The photos are severe crops but high resolution =
cameras can do wonders these days.

All The Birds Of Nova Scotia, by Ian Mclaren, records a nesting Pine =
Warbler near Truro in June 2010

Hans
