Subject: Canada Warbler(26++)

Fulton Lavender and Richard Hatch reported 12 Canada Warblers on the BLT =
trail heading east from Silver Birch Drive. Not to be outdone and =
motivated by their success I found another 12 along the north shoulder =
of Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park(St. Margaret's Bay Trail). I also =
found another two within earshot of the circle road of the park. Between =
the three of us we covered perhaps no more than two kilometres of this =
route. The two trails are on the same recovered rail line. Do the math =
and it appears that we have a significant bounce back of this species. =
High breeding success from last summer and low losses on the wintering =
grounds and return migration might account for this recovery. In 14 =
years of birding/photography in Nova Scotia I've never encountered so =
many Canada Warblers in such a short period of time and along such a =
short route.
