Hi all
Here are the results of the final night of Maritime Swiftwatch 21013 =
from Temperance St. school in New Glasgow June 3. There was a light =
shower when I left home and on arrival at the school at 8:30. It was =
19C, 100% overcast and slight breeze with ends of branches moving. There =
were 70+ swifts flying around on arrival and at 8:35 one flew out of the =
chimney with it or another flying in a few seconds later. Most birds =
entered at 8:48 and stragglers to 9:02. I left at 9:10 with a total of =
126 swifts. It was one of those nights when it was sometimes hard to =
tell if swifts had gone in or had swooped below the back of the chimney. =
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a quick flying bird pass by low over =
the car at 9:05- maybe the Merlin that was present on May 30. If it was =
he was too late.=20

The June 3 total is the lowest of the 4 Swiftwatches, but greater than =
the 50 I had May 31 and the 51 by Charlie and Judy Kendell on June 2.=20

SwiftWatch totals 2012
May 22 558
May 26 530
May 30 202
Jun 3 126

cheers
Ken
