With the number of calls I get about this type of thing I can assure you
that this length of attachment is not the norm. Usually it stops within a
week or so. I think it prolongs when people find it cute and start feeding
the bird to get it closer for pics etc. The best option is to just enjoy
but not encourage, it usually stops rather quickly.
