To avoid strain on the heart and waste of fuel, please note the phrase in the parentheses
above.

A note of mine on a Reddish Egret likely collected in Nova Scotia during the 19th century
was published a short while ago in the Canadian Field-Naturalist (canadianfieldnaturalist.ca).
There have been two sight reports of Reddish Egret in the province, both in the 1960s, as
reported in Ian McLaren's All the Birds of Nova Scotia, but neither was included in Godfrey's
Birds of Canada. So the 19th century specimen is the first confirmation of the species for
Nova Scotia and Canada,

This paper is available as open access, or get in touch with me offline and I will be happy to
send a .pdf of it.

Eric
