Subject: Green Heron and American Bittern

Ray Staszko and I were returning along the eastern shore after a hike =
along the Musquodoboit Trailways when Ray spotted a small egret in the =
big pond by Grand Desert, northwest corner nearest the road. It was a =
Green Heron. Ray got a dozen record photos using his point and shoot =
camera and Hans with his fancy gear got nothing but a distant fly away =
pic. I expect the bird will stay in this pond all summer. This is the =
same pond that has hosted Great Egrets every year for the last few.

When I was asking permission to access private land to photograph the =
Green Heron I was told that there is a American Bittern present here as =
well.

Hans
