The pollen definitely appears to be green even where it is more thinly
dispersed in the water. Once it has been washed up on shore and dried to a
crust, however, it does take on a yellowish cast. So perhaps the water
(tannic) does distort the color perception. Lots of White Pines surround
the lake.
