Yesterday, about 2 pm, at the same location as reported by others, I =
watched the pelican preening and then taking flight to a islet nearby. =
Two Common Terns, who may be nesting there, proceeded to harass it by =
dive-bombing. Each time a sweep was made the pelican would point his =
bill toward the terns and open it's mouth very wide, a "gaping threat =
display" which I had never seen before in  other White Pelicans, but =
apparently is typical in aggressive situations.
