I took this fuzzy picture of these Rhodora seed pods b/c I was wondering
what the projections sticking out of the ends of the unripe seeds were:

When I took a close-up of the green pods I noticed one coming out of the
side as well: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9216174226/

Then this small Weevil dropped out of the plant:

My question: Would these tubes have something to do with the weevil larvae
that are probably inside, feeding on the unripe pods? Some large aquatic
fly grubs (maggots) have long breathing tubes.

Weevil id?
