This Fishfly (Chauliodes) was lazily flopping about on the windowsill early
in the morning. It was so lethargic and docile I picked it up, put it on a
cutting board, took it inside and shot a few pictures. Apparently adult
Fishflies are noted for their weak, fluttery movements. Note the one-sided
feathery antennae characteristic of these insects:

Adult fishflies do not feed but have formidable looking jaws. The larvae
are predaceous though: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92981528@N08/9276057268/

Corydalidae (Fishflies and Dobsonflies) are associated with well-oxygenated
clean waters which is good news for L Torment. The third of the
megalopteran trio, Alderflies (Sialidae) are more likely to be found in
polluted freshwaters. So far none of these- good.
