Dear All,                        Aug 4, 2013
    Yesterday, while on a short walk near Brookline St. I noticed a =
fairly large patch of Carpet-weed (Mollugo verticillata L.) growing in a =
gravel pit.=20

    I have seen this sometimes along Kentville streets, growing in =
pavement cracks or between sidewalk bricks but not, as I recall, =
elsewhere.=20

    This is a tough pioneer plant and might have use in reclaiming =
gravelly mine spoils and the like. It has a long thin taproot which I =
suppose helps it make use of sparse water.

Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville
