Subject: [NatureNS] Clavaria vermicularis/fragilis
Dear All, Aug 4, 2013
Today while hauling firewood from North Alton I noticed more =
Clavaria vermicularis about 40 paces west of the group found July 29 and =
I had time today to take a shot in the field.

Within a few metres of this clump there were 25 more clumps =
variously older or younger. This patch of 26 clumps was I have since =
noticed that C. fragilis (Holmsk.) Fr. is more correct and the name is =
descriptive of this very brittle fungus.
This area was selectively logged in 2000, with chainsaw and porter, =
to salvage studwood from dying Spruce. It also gave the hardwood more =
room.
