I had the great pleasure of visiting the lake shore of Shingle lake and
admiring some of the coastal plain flora. The abundance of Red root was
amazing they being very special. The Rhexia (Meadow beauty) was in bloom
and peeking up from the lakeshore grasses. The False goldenrod was in
bloom as well.
A special treat were finding a small area that held about fifty Club spur
orchids all in perfect bloom.
I was not able to explore much as I have an injury to my knee cap which
restricts my movement. This didn't diminish how much I loved this lake and
sitting in the warm breezes just enjoying the quietness of nature.
We got to the lake shore by finding and following a road that we found while
looking at an easier access. The Maps of NS are great.
