Aggression seems to be the norm in my experience. We have four feeders =
(with spaces for sixteen) and I have frequently observed a relatively =
quiet period where one bird is feeding and an aggressor will harass the =
feeder for that feeding position when there are fifteen vacant. I =
don=E2=80=99t understand how the energy spent defending an ample food =
supply is beneficial to the bird, unless the practise gained helps when =
food is in short supply. We=E2=80=99re currently going through roughly =
6 cups of food a day.
