I just had an interesting sparrow at the feeder. I'm a bit puzzled by it. =
This bird was perched on top of the wooden lobster trap that I have sittin=
g out. It had a strong white eye ring. A pretty drab face with some marki=
ngs and strong white on either side of the throat. It also had a pink bill=
. The tail seemed short. I think that it was a vesper sparrow=2C but I co=
uld not get any white to either side of the tail. The chest was pretty bla=
nd with a slight beige wash to it. I was considering grasshopper sparrow=
=2C but the head was not flat. Hopefully it will return so that I can get =
another view of it. I have to leave it as a mystery for now. I also got t=
he impression that it might be a young bird not quite in adult plumage yet.=
