Steve managed to find wild berries, up along Broad River, enough for a =
couple pies and enough to share for a pie for his folks. Maybe 10 cups =
total. Two different pickings. Very small areas, very small berries but =
wonderful flavour! He said he only found about a handful of =
huckleberries and they were again, tiny but tasty so he ate them. He =
also commented on the number of birds he saw, could account for the slim =
pickings. There were so few insects about for a good part of the summer. =

Many thanks to all who have taken the time to respond to my original =
query. So, it looks like I may have simply been looking for berries at =
the wrong places. At least in HRM, I may want to stick to the sites of =
the recent Spryfield, Williams Lake, or Eastern Shore forest fires...=20
Great discussion, especially of huckleberry, a duo of local wild =
edible species that often fly under the radar....=20
