This Week's Sky at a Glance

Some night sky sights for November 22 =96 30

Comet ISON is becoming a lot more challenging to spot with binoculars. =
Comet Lovejoy remains much higher and easier to see in binoculars before =
dawn even begins. It=92s 5th magnitude and south of the Big Dipper.=20

On Monday, November 25, the Moon will go into its Last-quarter Phase =
meaning it will rise at midnight and set at noon.=20

On Saturday, November 23 the sun rose at 7:31 a.m. and will set at 4:40 =
p.m. giving 9 hours 10 minutes of daylight hours. On Saturday, November =
30, the sun will rise at 7:40 a.m. and set at 4:36 p.m. to give 8 hours =
57 minutes of daylight hours (These values are for Moncton, New =
Brunswick).=20

This Week's Planet Roundup=20

Mercury and Saturn are together low in the dawn with Comet ISON passing =
nearby. Look very low in the east-southeast during dawn, far lower left =
of Spica. Mercury is magnitude =960.7; Saturn is one-third as bright at =
+0.6. They pass each other less than 1=B0 apart on the mornings of the =
25th and 26th.=20

Venus (magnitude =964.8) is the brilliant "Evening Star" in the =
southwest during dusk, shining about as high and bright as it's going to =
this year. It sets more than an hour after dark. =20

Mars (magnitude 1.3) rises around 2 a.m. By dawn it's high in the =
southeast.=20

Jupiter (magnitude =962.5) rises in the east-northeast around 9 p.m. It =
blazes highest around 4 a.m.=20
