Subject: American Tree Sparrow and Swamp Sparrow

This is my 14th winter watching birds at Portuguese Cove. In the first =
13 winters the American Tree Sparrow arrived in October and stayed until =
April of the following year. This is the first winter that they didn't =
arrive here until today, Dec 9. Arriving with the American Tree Sparrow =
this morning was a Swamp Sparrow which also overwinters here but in =
smaller numbers than the Tree Sparrow.

Hans

PS: The American Tree Sparrow is more appropriately named the Canadian =
Tree Sparrow.
