[NatureNS] Common (Mew) Gull in Eastern Passage, Northern Shrike and other HRM highlights

This morning I found what I believe to be a Common (Mew) Gull in Eastern
Passage. It was feeding very close to shore near the pull-off at the large
community mailbox shortly before reaching Hartlen Point. There was a huge
group of gulls there at sunrise feeding on the material stirred up by the
surf and the rain runoff. It flew toward Hartlen Point but not before I
studied it at length and captured several photos.

There was at least one Snowy Owl still on the golf course.

At MacCormack's Beach a White-crowned Sparrow continues near the feeder at
the base of the sign near the start of the boardwalk.

A lone Peregrine was seen later on the Manulife Financial building in
Halifax.

Later, Dave Currie and I found a Northern Shrike on Sandy Cove Road around
2pm. We also had at least 11 Harlequin Ducks off of Chebucto Head and a
beautiful Red-throated Loon in Ketch Harbour.
