We birded the Lunenburg and Mahone Bay areas today and then back to
Halifax. Going through Lunenburg towards Blue Rocks (after lunch at the
Salt Shaker Deli), we turned down the road to Battery Point and the fish
plant where we had a Red-tailed Hawk soaring above us floating on the
wind with no wing beats at all for 2-3 minutes. On the return trip on
Hwy 3 between Western Shore and Gold River, we had a pair (male and
female) of Hooded Mergansers, over 400 Black Ducks and an American
Kestrel that flew overhead, westward.
