Hi Jim,
Thanks for pointing this out. If you are preparing to rob the store, =
environment, country... you will if possible fire the night watchman.
We can never expect to have responsible government, other than by =
accident, until some form of proportional representation is instituted =
with Parliment, not the PMO, running the show [and the sideshow i.e. =
Senate]..=20
With 38% of the popular vote (if I recall correctly) the Harperites =
and their regressive ideology would be largely on the sidelines of =
policy formulation so clearly the push for proportional representation =
must come from other parties.
I recently sent the following e-mail to Mulcair and Trudeau; =
automated response and no response respectively. A few million such =
e-mails might register so consider sending them a message and spreading =
the word.

Hello: Dec 6, 2013
I expect you both will have contrary ideas but, from where I stand, =
I=20
think your primary objectives in the next Federal election should be to =
to=20
displace the PC party, by coalition in word or in deed if necessary.
Consequently I think you both should focus on being critical of the=20
Harper Government, their policies not just senate scandals and the like, =
and=20
be less critical of each other.
Your coalition, if necessary, would be only a temporary union to get =
us=20
out of a difficult situation.
Whatever the composition may be of the next party(s) that displace =
the=20
Federal PC, I think your first priority should be to formulate and =
institute=20
a form of proportional representation that will make it possible for the =
Federal Government to represent the aspirations of and be responsive to =
the=20
diverse demands of the voting public.
The very idea of First Past the Post when more than two parties are=20
running is the stuff of nightmares and eventually either bloody riots or =
total disinterest; e. g. a party with only 32% of the popular vote =
forming a=20
government.
Yours truly, David H. Webster, Kentville, N.S.=20

Newsworld TV
For those of you who missed this Fifth Estate program last night, it =
is on again tonight at 9 pm on CBC Newsworld TV, right after The Nature =
of Things at 8 pm.
This is a very important program and very discouraging about our =
present federal government. Everyone needs to see this and react to it =
in some way, with letters to MPs and Ministers and Prime Minister, etc.
My only criticism of this program is that CBC elected not to show us =
the names of the principal characters in this episode.
Please check it out and tell everyone you know. It should be =
available also at cbc.ca/fifth/ or perhaps cbc.ca/fifthestate/ .
