The trip today was successful with three people attending. We spotted 31 s=
pecies and I actually added an additional seven species after the field tri=
p was over on my own. Anyhow=2C highlights I would say were three yellow-r=
umped warblers along the Back Harbour Trail. We missed this species for th=
e Christmas Bird Count. We had a young male=2C a female and an adult male =
northern cardinal along the Back Harbour Trail as well. The male was very =
vocal on territory. In addition I heard another scold call for a cardinal =
along Sleepy Hollow Road and after the trip found a female on top of Blockh=
ouse hill scolding or calling as if trying to attract a mate. Another fema=
le was on the lower part of town by the little park before you head up Shor=
e Road. So that was six northern cardinals. =20
=20
A thick-billed murre was a surprise part way along the road out to Corkum's=
 Island. =20
=20
After the trip I spotted 40 scaup=2C which surprisingly was comprised of 30=
 lesser scaup and 10 greater scaup. This group was by Highliner Foods. Us=
ually in this area greater scaup comprise the bulk of the flocks with only =
a few lesser mixed in. =20
