Chris and Kate from the NS Bird Society led a beginning birders' hike for
the Halifax Adventure Seekers to Martinique Beach.  A gorgeous day, and
while it seemed that there were few birds for the 20 observers to enjoy, we
did eventually find some lovely birds.

1 Rough-legged Hawk (Chris somehow picked this one out flying in from well
out in the ocean - good spotting).
Surf and White-wnged Scoters
28 Dunlin
13 Sanderling
Lots of Bufflehead and Long-tailed Ducks

Most of the group then joined Chris and Kate at Lawrencetown Beach, where
two Snowy Owls were well-appreciated.

Nice birds to start the DOWL!
