Thanks for this Kevin. It is a real time saver for me. My apologies to the =
eBird programmers. I just didn't explore enough options=2C I see=2C in my e=
nthusiasm to enter data. Cheers=2C Larry

Try the Same area or same =0A=
area and date option=2C it will bring up a map of the hot spots and all of =
your =0A=
previously used ebird locations in that area. Simply select one or point to=
 a =0A=
new area and click to set the balloon then name the new location. No need t=

Yes=2C but not for another location in the same county=2C =0A=
state/province=2C or country (a much more likely scenario). Larry

Hi =0A=
Larry:=0A=
 =0A=
While still =0A=
viewing a checklist after submitting it and/or if you open it under "My eBi=
rd"=2C =0A=
"Manage my observations" there are a number of options along the right hand=
 side =0A=
that will allow you to start another checklist for the same location=2C dat=
e etc. =0A=
without entering all of the data a second time.=0A=

=0A=
Hi All=2C
=20
Just a quick comment about eBird. I am =0A=
becoming a convert to eBird simply because of the usefulness of the data. B=
ut =0A=
data submission could be made easier. Surely any programmer could leave the=
 last =0A=
entry as default=2C or give the option to do so. How many times does one ha=
ve to =0A=
reenter the same county=2C province/state and country. Why is this necessar=
y? =0A=
Sorry=2C a pet peeve after adding all my records from a single =0A=
county.
=20
There are some other problems with eBird. There is a lack =0A=
of guidance on how to submit data. Area boundaries are undefined=2C allowin=
g =0A=
multiple interpretations of same. Linear trips crossing county boundaries a=
re =0A=
assigned to the county where the point is set. And so on. The onus is on th=
e =0A=
submitter to do these things correctly when adding his/her data. But=2C of =
course=2C =0A=
it isn't always clear.
=20
Re Denis LePage's example of the STEM maps: =0A=
"Just to give you a one example of the incredible power of these observatio=
ns =0A=
when they are combined=2C I invite you to look at the following animated ma=
ps =0A=
(called STEM maps): http://ebird.org/content/ebird/occurrence/. Cornell is =
=0A=
currently in the process of creating these maps for the Americas for releas=
e at =0A=
a later point=2C but there are obviously several gaps in regions where eBir=
d =0A=
participation remains low=2C including in many places in Canada." =0A=

=20
These maps are not a good example to elicit Canadian =0A=
participation. Canada is not included in Cornell's "maps of the America's"=
=2C =0A=
which are USA only maps. And the map display is ghastly (at least on my scr=
een)=2C =0A=
all black with unreadable text=2C larger displays the same size=2C no contr=
ol over =0A=
speed=2C etc. The concept is wonderful=2C but the execution could be improv=
ed (and =0A=
surely will be before release). One can hope.
=20
My two cents worth. =0A=
Oh=2C I forgot=2C cents are only good in the USA now. Cheers=2C Larry
