Several years ago a few of the Aspen trees on my property died followed =
by a few more the next spring. This year several more close to the =
earlier affected trees have started to put out leaves but appear to be =
dying. Half the stand is now gone as the die-off advances through them =
several trees at a time. As the bark falls away from the affected trees =
I can see tracks left in the sapwood by some sort of borer. This could =
be something that moved in after the trees died but is more likely the =
source of the problem.=20

I have linked some photos showing the tracks left behind in the surface =
wood of the dead trees. Any ideas on what is causing this.=20
