I just received my copy of this book. It's beautifully laid out with great
photography. There are introductory chapters on anatomy, capture techniques
(including ethics) and more. There is a *pictorial* key to common beetle
families. Pictorial keys are a lot more work to create, but tonnes easier
to use. From just flipping through, it looks like one species per genus of
beetles is illustrated...I have not gone through the whole book though to
see if that's consistent. But wait! I just checked one of my favourite
families, the Silphidae (Carrion Beetles) and there are six Burying Beetles
(genus *Nicrophorus*) illustrated; it must be a favourite of the author as
well!

The only critique I have is that the References section is "Selected
References". I realize that a full References section for a book this size
would count in the many hundreds, likely over a thousand references, but
none-the-less, it would have been nice.
