Hi everyone,

The Nature Conservancy of Canada and Bird Studies Canada are holding a
volunteer bird survey at the Musquodoboit Estuary (Martinique Beach area).
This area is a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance and an Important
Bird Area (IBA), particularly for it=E2=80=99s importance as a staging and
overwintering site for Canada Geese and Black Ducks. It is also well known
for the shorebirds that congregate here.

The survey will take place on Saturday, August 16 from 9:30-2:00pm. A lunch
will be provided for registered volunteers.

Volunteers will be divided into teams to survey the large area and record
the species and numbers of shorebirds, seabirds, and other birds observed.
You do not have to be an expert birder! Teams will each have an experienced
birder so it is a great chance to learn. You can register for the event
online at the following link:

There should be lots of shorebirds - hope to see some of you there!
