Subject: Dr. W. B. Scott

Some of you may have heard already, but I am sorry to have to write you tha=
t Dr. W. B. (Bev) Scott died on Sunday 17 August 2014. Bev was curator of =
ichthyology at the Royal Ontario Museum from 1950 to about 1974 and coautho=
red Freshwater Fishes of Canada with Dr. E. J. Crossman. Bev kept in contac=
t with the department and just recently was featured in a video prepared by=
an EVC student, Vanessa Minke-Martin (see http://vimeo.com/78223115). Bev =
just turned 97 in July and in my occasional conversations with him seemed a=
s sharp as ever. He was a highly respected ichthyologist and will be greatl=
y missed. I have not heard of any plans for the funeral or a memorial yet.
Erling
