Saw what appears to be an American Avoset at the Salt Marsh Trail in Cole H=
arbour on Aug30th just as the tide was going out.

Here's a good photo which shows the long thin black upturned bill and brown=
ish back of neck. I was skeptical of the id because I didnt think they were=
 in Nova Scotia typically but couldnt think of any other species with that =
bill and brownish color on back of neck:

Also saw a large congregation of Great Blue Herons =2C there were at least =
30 of them=2C I snapped a shot with a dozen of them here:
