This is what we missed, but I do think the best would have been looking over
water. We waited until after 10, out near the airport - perhaps a slight
greenish tinge or wishful thinking.

Observed from Avonport about 9 p.m. until about 9:45, just after moonrise

 

Here are  samples of photos I took using my Canon T3i  The link is to my
Dropbox, from which the photos can be viewed as a slideshow and/or
downloaded.

 

Also note that the unaided eye did not deliver the same colour intensity as
what the  digital camera captured.
