Index of Subjects Pleasant Hill Sat Evening Update. Quiet and very windy but still ..... 1 House Wren - Left Side Corner 1 Blue Grosbeak - Irving Entrance. 1 White-crowned Sparrow - I.D. by Fulton Lavender between the Pine Slope and Lower Edge of Cemetery 1 Pine Warbler - seen by Fulton in the pine trees near the center of the cemetery. 1 very interesting mystery bird - vireo size, tan colored bird that showed white flashes when it flew - Lower Field. Unfortunately just glimpsed by myself, Chris Peters and Kate Steele, Fulton who was bringing up the rear just missed it. It buried itself into the bottom of the pines and refused to come out or respond. Of the numerous morning Blackpolls I could find just one this evening, and after not seeing the Blue Grosbeak for the entire day I spotted it near last light feeding at the top of Irving where it has been for the last 3 days. A very cute and very obvious baby Northern Cardinal was enjoyed by all in the Lower Field. This bird is still showing pin feathers, doing lots of begging and still being mostly fed by adults. I mentioned in an earlier post that I found 9 breeding pairs of cardinals in Lower Sackville this summer but after talking to some other local birders I learned of 4 more pairs I was unaware of bringing the total up to an incredible 13 breeding pairs of Northern Cardinals. It will be interesting to see how many decide to overwinter. - Cheers, Clarence.
