Hi Angela,
The Yellow-headed Blackbird is a bird of western and mid-western North Amer=
ica. The closest breeding population to Nova Scotia is found on the Ontario=
side of Lake St. Clair, just northeast of Windsor, Ontario. However, it is=
a species which regularly appears all along the eastern seaboard of North =
America during migration and, as the sightings that people have mentioned i=
ndicate, which is regularly seen in Nova Scotia.
I can't tell you if the bird mistook Windsor, Nova Scotia for Windsor, Onta=
rio but I can say it is a great bird to host in one's yard.
All the best,
Lance

Subject: EXTERNAL: [NatureNS] Yellow headed blackbird
A friend of mine has taken fantastic photos of what is quite clearly a yell=
ow headed blackbird. This bird is livin' large in her yard. She lives just =
outside of Halifax. Are they often reported in NS? Or are there pockets of =
populations?
Thanks
Angela in Windsor
