My friend came to take me outside to listen to a call she had heard while dog walking. This was between 8:30-9:15 tonight. We listened to it for about 15 minutes. It was relatively stationary, but we could imagine 'it' was turning it's head and calling in different directions. It did not appear to be coming from the ground but in the trees. I googled owl sounds when I got home and we can both say with certainty that we heard a juvenile great horned owl shrieking.

I have heard great horned owls on occasion in two different areas of Windsor ( NS ). One was by Haliburton House in town and currently closer to The Super 8/ AvonView High school vicinity,

Pretty cool way to end the day.

Angela in Windsor NS.
