Hi All
Last evening at Belle Isle after the sun went down we
saw a Short Eared Owl sitting on a low branch of one of the tall
poplars growing around the pond.
With binoculars I could see the oval face as well as the ears
flat against it head but sticking out to the side. A mixed flock of blackbirds guess 200 - 300 birds
was flying around and the owl didn't bother them or them it.
A flock of 5 birds flew by very high in the air. so high they were visible for only a short
time. They were light in color, looked a little bigger than gulls with a somewhat
different wing beat. They were just along the shore of Fundy heading south - fast!
Hard to believe birds fly that high.
Enjoy the fall
Paul
